KARAMAY, Nov. 15: A delegation of over 40 international and domestic experts and journalists recently concluded a field tour of Karamay, a major oil city in China s Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region.

The visit part of an international cultural communication event with the theme of “Meet the oil city, enjoy the city, charm the friend city” offered a comprehensive look at the city’s progress, from its industrial roots to its modern advancements.
The tour began at the Karamay Museum. Historical exhibits there, including statues of early oil workers and their equipment, vividly recounted the hardships and determination of the city s pioneers. Guests explored a restored cellar at the Black Oil Mountain site, gaining a deep appreciation for the perseverance that defined Karamay s founding era.
At the active Black Oil Mountain, the group witnessed natural oil bubbles seeping to the surface. Khalid H. Generations of oilmen have defied difficulties, he said, finally making Karamay one of the most influential energy cities.

The delegation also experienced Karamay’s rich culture and landscape. They were greeted by traditional performances at the world famous Devil’s City, a stunning area of wind eroded rock formations.
The tour highlighted modern achievements as well. At Karamay Hospital, the group observed a smart healthcare system where most procedures can be handled via mobile phone. A representative from Pakistan s Baluchistan province noted the efficiency and praised the city for providing medical education to Pakistani students.
