WUHAN, Nov. 27: A graduation ceremony was held at Huazhong Agricultural University (HZAU) in Wuhan on November 19 for 190 Pakistani agriculture specialists who have completed their training as part of the second batch of 1,000 specialists under the Pakistani Prime Minister’s Capacity-Building Initiative.
The specialists, who began their three-month program on August 24, received specialized training in smart agriculture, fruit and vegetable production and processing, and aquaculture and processing. Concurrently, 86 of their counterparts underwent parallel training in Sichuan Province.This progress follows the successful training of over 460 agricultural specialists in Yangling, Shaanxi province, demonstrating the initiative’s growing contribution to the agricultural development in Pakistan, CEN reported.
At the ceremony, Pakistani Ambassador to China Khalil Hashmi emphasized the program’s strategic value, stating, “This program represents far more than numerical achievements—it’s crucial for human capital development, technical skills enhancement, and agricultural modernization for Pakistan.”
HZAU President Yan Jianbing congratulated the graduates and reaffirmed the university’s commitment to the partnership. He encouraged the graduates to apply their expertise in practice and serve as bridges to strengthen institutional cooperation between Pakistan and China.
On the occasion, 3 Pakistani trainees shared their learning experiences, highlighting the practical value of the program and its positive impact on their professional development.
The initiative continues to expand, with 54 new trainees arriving at HZAU on November 10 for a three-month specialized program in seed production and processing technology.
The same day also saw the signing of cooperation agreements between HZAU and Pakistani institutions, including the Pakistan Agricultural Research Council and the Government College University, Faisalabad, during the 5th “Belt and Road” China-Pakistan Agriculture Forum.
