BEIJING, Jan 20: Beijing strongly condemned a deadly attack on a Chinese restaurant in Kabul, Afghanistan, which occurred yesterday and resulted in multiple casualties. According to Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Guo Jiakun, one Chinese national was killed and five others were injured in the blast.
China expressed deep condolences to the families of the victims and extended sincere sympathies to those injured. The Chinese government has lodged urgent representations with Afghan authorities, urging them to make every possible effort to provide medical treatment to the wounded, ensure the safety of Chinese nationals, projects, and institutions, thoroughly investigate the incident, and swiftly bring the perpetrators to justice.
Officials from the Chinese Embassy in Afghanistan have visited the injured at local hospitals to offer assistance and support.
China reiterated its firm opposition to all forms of terrorism and reaffirmed its support for Afghanistan and regional countries in jointly combating terrorist and violent activities.
In light of the ongoing security challenges in Afghanistan, the Chinese Foreign Ministry once again advised Chinese citizens to avoid travel to the country in the near future.
